Department of Education Violates
Rights of Students with Disabilities
For far too long, the Department of Education (DOE) has been disregarding Special Education laws, depriving special education students of the services they are entitled to by Law – specifically, the Federal Laws of IDEA, which mandates that states provide Special Education Services to Children with Disabilities to ensure meaningful progress in the Least Restrictive Environment.

Often, DOE employees misinform parents that their children are ineligible for certain services or that requested services don't exist. Unfortunately, these violations persist without consequence. Moreover, the hearing process requires reforms to expedite claims. Some Hearing Officers lack thorough training in Education Law or experience in Due Process Laws, leading to erroneous denials of claims on behalf of disabled students.
